FAULT LINE

We're just tryin' to hold on
To the best thing we've got.
Everybody says it's crazy,
But we know it's not.
Still, the strongest bond can get shaky
Without some kind of support.
Anything can start breakin'
When something's pullin' it apart.

We're livin' on a fault line.
It ain't your fault,
And it ain't mine.
We're livin' on a fault line,
Tryin' to hold on.

We come from two different worlds.
We met here, at the edge.
All kinds of friction all around us,
Suspicion and even rage.
If we could live on one side,
We would be okay.
But straddling separate worlds,
We have to struggle though, through each day.

We're livin' on a fault line.
It ain't your fault,
And it ain't mine.
We're livin' on a fault line,
Tryin' to hold on.

Neither of us asked for this.
It simply was not our aim
To live in constant turmoil,
Shaking from the strain.
Where we are may not be our fault,
But it's our life, just the same.
We're the only ones who can make sure
The struggle is not in vain.

We're livin' on a fault line.
It ain't your fault,
And it ain't mine.
We're livin' on a fault line,
Tryin' to hold on
.
