THE HORSE OF FIRE

The Horse of Fire,
Up from the earth's loose core,
His cindermane showering flintlets galore
On direly dry grasses and eyes,
Hooves and sparks alike flying
As He glides down the mountainside,
Breath and tail a circuit of flame,
Darkens with light,
Darkens this obsidian
Strip of night.
